Shannon's Story

Shannon’s childhood was no different from most children’s and included all the standard medicines and immunizations offered to prevent illness and complications. Like most children, she was given antibiotics whenever she became ill with flu’s and viruses. Her weight was always normal despite a heavy meat and potato diet. Shannon was a healthy child with the exception of one thing… constipation.

As with many, constipation starts early and occasionally. It was the same with Shannon and as she grew into her teens, the problem of constipation grew. She also began to experience acne, sinus infections, chronic yeast and respiratory infections, as well as fatigue, and eventually infectious mononucleosis. Emotionally, anxiety and depression began to overwhelm her. Her blood pressure elevated to the point of recommended medication to control it.

Even though Shannon’s menstruation began at age 12, it was never consistent or regular. By age 16, eating disorders began to plague her. Her emotional and physical health was deteriorating. As usual, traditional medicine offered her relief with anti-depressant drugs, Paxil, and antibiotics for acne. By age 18, she went off to college and all her symptoms of ill health increased in intensity, including her lack of monthly menstruation. It disappeared! To make matters worse, for the first time in her life, she was chronically constipated and began struggling with weight gain. Laxatives became daily routine; lots of them. Sometimes, the laxatives increased the constipation leaving her feeling bloated and full. Within the first year at College, Shannon developed acid-reflux. Again, the doctors offered her medication for all that ailed her.
At age 19, her father, who had been dabbling in alternative health for some time, mentioned colonics. Desperate to help herself, Shannon began to get colonics while visiting home on the east coast. She began incorporating different modalities of alternative health in an attempt to make herself feel better.

While at college in Boulder, Colorado, Shannon found Clear Health Center for colonics and her health began to take a turn. Shannon committed to making the change happen.
